Lima Complex Subsidence Remediation Detailed Design

Client: Pertamina Hulu Energi / PT Timas Suplindo

Location: Indonesia

The Lima Complex in the Offshore West Java area was experiencing subsidence issues, resulting in a significant reduction in the safe air gap clearance of the platforms relative to sea level. The extent of the subsidence on the Lima Complex had become a safety issue for operations and consequently, a permanent long term solution was established by raising the most critical platforms and facilities and ensure continued safe operations of the Lima Complex for the next 15 years.

A simultaneous Deck Raising System was implemented to raise the Lima Compression (LCOM), Lima Services (LSER) and Lima Process (LPRO) Platforms as well as the associated bridges and flare by 4 (four) meters.

Synergy's Scope of Work

Synergy performed all the detailed engineering work for the project in collaboration with the proprietary Deck Raising system designed by Versabar.

The advanced age of the platforms, along with a significant amount of documentation that was no longer up-to-date, added to the challenge of executing the Brownfield modifications and ensuring that the project was conducted safely and efficiently.

Full construction engineering support, including construction workpacks and procedures, were provided by Synergy to the EPCI Contractor.

Key Project Achievements

  1.  First time in the region that more than one platform has ever been jacked up simultaneously.
  2. Remediation of the subsidence problem by the use and implementation of a Simultaneous Jacking Deck Raising System.
  3. Provided systematic Construction Workpacks for all of the required offshore modifications so that the EPCI Contractor could achieve the work within the tight platform shutdown window.
